OUR MISSION --

Orange CountyHabitat for Humanity (OCHFH) is a non profit volunteer Christian ministry. We work in partnership with God and people from all walks of life to provide new, simple but decent, affordable housing for needy and qualified families of Orange County. We are committed to working with people of all ethnic, racial, religious and economic backgrounds. OCHFH seeks to fulfill its mission by:

  • Providing an opportunity for needy families to experience dignity, integrity, self worth and hope through the process of acquiring and caring for their own home;
  • Providing a visible and effective opportunity for people and organizations to respond financially to this human need in our community;
  • Providing an opportunity for volunteers to give of their time, talent, personal and professional resources, skills, and labor as a tangible expression of their commitment to helping our low income fellow citizens acquire decent housing.

OCHFH’s growth is driven by our awareness of more than 350 families in Orange County who are in need of decent housing. Our unique program is dedicated to building well constructed, low cost homes with no interest loans and no added profit for selected families. Families make monthly loan payments and this principal repayment is used by RHH only to build other houses for low income families.

OCHFH measures it's success by the number of families and people we help and not the number of houses built. OCHFH strives for a high quality relationship with each family, a relationship which is honest, caring and demonstrates God's love. We believe our continuous partnership and communication with God and our Habitat families provides the necessary tools to ensure their successful transition to now home ownership.

HABITAT'S THREE-YEAR PLAN

This plan is designed to begin the transition from an all-volunteer organization to a more structured staff administered operation. This transition may take up to three years. OCHFH has too much work now and, like most Habitat affiliates, cannot expect our volunteer Board members to do everything.

Building sites have become a limiting factor in many Habitat building programs. The skyrocketing price of land is driving our costs out of reach of some of our families. Yes, we need a dozen or more building lots. Help us find building lots. If you own a parcel of land, or know someone who might be a likely land donor, please contact John Henry at 540-972-2706. All land donations are tax-deductible.  Your generosity would be something all of our volunteers can build upon.
