Habitat for Humanity is a Christian
organization that brings people from all beliefs and backgrounds
together to build houses in partnership with people in need. People
of many different beliefs demonstrate their faith by working together
to build. People of faith can support the work of Habitat
through prayer, making lunches, offering devotions, raising funds
and providing labor for house building.
Orange County Habitat for Humanity is a Christian organization partnering with low-income families to help provide them safe, decent and affordable housing. Homes are built using volunteer labor and donated materials when possible. All partner families put in sweat equity working on their homes and the homes of others, as well as working for the betterment of the community. Homes built by Habitat for Humanity are then sold at 0% interest to the partner families. The donated labor and materials help keep the cost of their houses in the affordable range.
Partner families are given a hand up, not a hand out. You can
help Habitat and help alleviate poverty housing by making a donation
of cash, goods or services to Orange County Habitat for Humanity. You
may even help yourself if your donation qualifies for tax credits. |

Since its founding Habitat has built more than 300,000 houses around the world. Habitat is a nonprofit Christian housing ministry that works to both eliminate poverty housing around the world and to make adequate housing a matter of conscience and action. People from all walks of life work in partnership to build houses with families in need.
The need for decent housing in America and around the world is staggering. Habitat believes that all people deserve a simple, decent place to live on terms they can afford to pay.
Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses.
Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor -- sweat equity -- into building their Habitat house and the houses of others. |
